Seek – Trust – Connect – Pray

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” Jeremiah 29:13

How many passwords are you trying to remember at this moment? Most have to remember a password for a bankcard, a credit card, work and home e-mail, social media  accounts, home security systems and probably several more. Some passwords are simple while others require combinations of eight or more numerical and alpha figures with some capitalization thrown in.  We know people who are great with remembering passwords, while there are others who forget them within seconds of changing them. So how do we mange to remember the numerous passwords required to live in this password driven world?

I am unable to provide you with a tip on how to memorize many passwords. However, I do want to offer you one more password to add to your list and this one may be the most practical and important one you’ll get to use. Other passwords give us access to things we use for daily living, but this password will get us access to eternity living; access to God.  So, what is the password needed to access God? Watch here – you don’t have to encrypt it or put it on a sticky to remember – it is ……PRAYER ….. and to use it you start by saying: Father or Holy Spirit or Jesus or Loving or Great or Master or Wonderful or even aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh.

What is PRAYER? Simply put, it is the purposeful act of talking with God and sharing our thoughts and expressing our feelings. It is also about listening for Him to respond. It is a connecting activity that allows us to tell God what is on our mind and for Him to tell us what is on His. It is a way to maintain a spiritual relationship. There are some great books on the subject of prayer as well as some great examples of people who have a comfortable prayer life. We can read about prayer however it is meant to be experienced.

We can communicate with those around us with a few words and some body language and they can do the same with us. Prayer is not much different. If you are uncertain of the “how to”, start by examining a good relationship that you are presently experiencing and think about why it is working. We will probably find that we talk, and they listen and then they talk, and we listen. When we speak kindly to someone, they act kindly. As we start to enjoy a relationship, we try to learn about the other person and even try to spend more time with them. Whatever we are doing right in that situation, we can apply to our relationship with God. Communicate out of love, respect and honour. Talk and listen. Learn about Him by reading the Word. Begin to pray by leading your heart and not your mind. Use this password to have access God.

Seek God. Trust God. Connect with God. Pray.
