The following is a prayer that was suggested to me many years ago. It is kept on my phone, and I try to read and pray it first thing everyday to align my heart and mind with God’s will for my life.
“Today, Lord Jesus, I will follow you. I am presenting myself to you as your servant. I will obey you. I will do whatever you ask no matter how hard or difficult it might be. I do not belong to me; I belong to you. You have bought me with your blood. You are the Lord and King of my life today and everyday.
- Today I will love others the way you love the Church.
- Today I will be the kind of person to others that you are to me.
- Today I will be the friend that brings honour you.
- Today I will love every person you bring into my life, no matter how hard they may be to love.
- Today I will read Your Word.
- Today I will be devoted to prayer.
- Today I will take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
- Today I will rejoice about everything and grumble about nothing.
- Today I will do my part to build your church where I serve and around the world.
- Today I will live my life as if it is the last before I stand before you at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Lord, I can’t keep these commitments in my own strength. Please give me your strength. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I am greatly lacking in wisdom. I need your wisdom to live my life for you today. Please give me your wisdom today so that I will know what to say and do in every situation so that I might glorify you with my life today.
