Recently, we had a bit of rainfall during the night, and it seemed like it would never stop. I wonder if anyone lying in bed listening to the rain fall thought about Noah and his family. What did Noah and his family believe while sitting amongst all those animals and listening to the rain falling? Did they have a family discussion about what was happening around them? They would have known that their friends and neighbours were dying because they had chosen to ignore God. They might have recalled the names or faces of people they encountered daily and spoke about how they were lost and wanted nothing to do with God. They may have discussed their responsibility once the rain stopped, and it was OK to go into the world: the obligation to share their knowledge of God with their offspring. They may have agreed that they needed to ensure their offspring knew the way to God’s heart.
That night, tonight and tomorrow night, there will be people outside our doors who are lost. Outside, our friends, neighbours and family members are choosing to ignore God, and Jesus has told us there will be consequences. The last instruction Jesus gave us before going up to the Father was to share His message with the world, and that great commission is something we must strive to do. As you read the prayer requests below and settle into your prayer posture, add the name or names of someone you believe is lost and bring them before our God.
- Pray for Divine intervention. Pray that the Holy Spirit seeks out those who are lost and reveals the truth to them. Pray that they hear that truth, understand it and then decide to accept that truth by accepting Jesus.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit gives you the strength to pray for the lost and then to go and connect with them. Pray that the Holy Spirit arranges those encounters and then guides you to say or do what is necessary.
- Pray for those the Holy Spirit has prompted you to go and speak with someone seeking Jesus. Pray for their strength and wisdom and protection against the evil one who will do everything to stop that visit from happening.
- Pray that those Christ followers you know grow even closer to God this week.
- Pray for the youth of your church, neighbourhoods and families as they struggle against the pull of this world. Pray for them to make wise, godly choices.
May God bless you this week and meet your daily needs.
